You voted for Boulder’s Best Pizzas, and the results are in! Read on for the top places to grab a slice

So far, you’ve voted on the best tacos in town, and now we’ve got the best pizza, too! The winning restaurant—Audrey Jane’s Pizza Garage—took the top spot with 30 percent of the votes. Keep reading for more info on where to get the best pizza in town, and if you haven’t voted for the best burger, cast your vote here.

1st Place: Audrey Jane’s Pizza Garage 2675 13th Street

Audrey Jane’s Pizza Garage was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives in 2017, but don’t worry — the pizza parlour is not just a gimmick, it’s truly great. In fact, in 2024, Audrey won first place in the Pizza in Teglia category at the Troceo Caputo Cup in Naples, Italy. The family that runs and owns Audrey Jane’s is also the bakers behind Moe’s Bagels, another Boulder staple. Try the New York Style round pizza with thin crust or the “Grandma Style” pizza, which is similar to Sicilian pizza with a crunchy sesame seed, olive-oiled bottom.

2nd Place with a Three-Way Tie

Proto’s Pizza 4670 Broadway (plus other locations)

Proto’s Pizza is a reliable choice for top-notch pizza that isn’t too fancy but isn’t super casual either. The local location is in North Boulder, with other restaurants in Broomfield, Gunbarrel, Lafayette, and Longmont, but the Boulder location is the original and opened in 2005. In the summer, chill on the patio with a cool drink and a hot slice. You can get 20 different combinations and a gluten-free option, or you can create your own. On Fridays, try their clam pizza. Pair the pizza with a glass of wine, a cocktail, or add on a fresh Caesar salad.

Pizzaria Alberico1730 Pearl St.

Formerly Pizzeria Locale, Alberico changed its name in 2023 to reflect a family name and refresh the atmosphere and menu, but still kept its much-loved pizza options. Alberico is much more casual than its sister-restaurant, the high-end Frasca Food and Wine, just next door to Pizzeria Alberico. Choose from 10 combinations, including toppings like coppa and smoked San Marzano tomatoes, fennel sausage and roasted Jimmy Nardello, and Calabrian sausage with vodka sauce. These pizzas are definitely on the fancier side and can pair well with one of its wines, with a highlight on the southern Italian region.

Barchetta1644 Walnut St

Barcehtta opened in Boulder in 2022 and quickly became a local favorite. The vibe is laidback and fun with a serve-yourself tap wall and stellar outdoor seating when it’s nice out (bring the kids! Bring the dogs!). The pizza feels high-class, even though the overall atmosphere is casual. And the pizza is amazingly tasty with a perfect crust, which isn’t a surprise— the founder and chef Jesse Jensen worked at Basta and as the Chef de Cuisine for Pizzeria Locale (now Pizzeria Alberico). The Queen Margherita pie is a favorite, but also try the cheese bread, roasted broccolini, and other pizzas. If you like white sauce, don’t miss the Bianco with caramelized onions and ricotta or the Verde Verde with green chili, roasted pork, and salsa verde.

A Few Honorable Mentions

Pizza Calore 1336 Pearl St.

A classic stop post-bars on Pearl Street, Pizza Calore offers quick slices with packed flavor; choose from a red sauce, a white sauce, or pesto on 22 different pizza combinations. You can also snag a calzone or a sandwich, too.

Fringe: A Well-Tapped Eatery  — 2900 Valmont Rd

Fringe’s pizzas are cooked right behind the counter in its eight-foot brick oven, which serves up Southern Italian cuisine with an emphasis on Neapolitan-style pizza. The restaurant also offers delicious small plates as starters and fresh salads with local ingredients. Stop in for their happy hour every day from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. for a $12 margherita pizza.

Backcountry Pizza & Tap House – 2319 Arapahoe Ave

We were kind of surprised this didn’t make some of the top votes, but regardless, Backcountry Pizza & Tap House is worth a visit. The menu is large with plenty of appetizers and sandwiches, but the pizza options include 11 varieties (which you can order by the slice!) or you can build your own.

Brooklyn’s Pizza1647 Arapahoe Ave

Stop in here to grab a quick whole pie or just a slice. You can build your own or choose from 13 different combinations. They also offer a vegan pizza, too.

Abo’s Pizza2761 Iris Ave (North Boulder) and 637 S. Broadway (South Boulder)

Abo’s is more of the classic, greasy, take-home type of pizza, and it hits the spot every time. There are eight locations in the surrounding area, with two in Boulder. Order online for delivery or pick-up.
