Whether you’re training for your next race or just looking for company, Boulder’s running groups make every mile more fun

Perhaps you are like me and immediately lose motivation to run once the evenings start getting darker. Or you are new to running and are looking for some camaraderie. No matter the reason (seriously, why do we run…), Boulder has no shortage of run clubs that you can pop into whenever you feel like it. Read on for nine local shops or groups that host a weekly group run, all of which are free and many where you can snag free drinks or even gear.

Mondays

Sanitas Brewing Pub Run — 3550 Frontier Ave, Unit A

The best thing about joining the pub run at Sanitas? You can get tacos after from the McDevitt Taco Supply taco truck, which came in at number two for the best tacos of Boulder, voted on by you all. The weekly runs start at 6 p.m. and leave from the parking lot of Sanitas Brewery. The pace varies from quick to casual for the 5K run, and the group cycles through six different routes to keep the runs fresh and interesting.

Wild Provisions2209 Central Ave

Every Monday at 6 p.m., head to Wild Provisions by 4 Noses Brewing Company for a 5K run or walk. You can get $2 off any beer post-run or hit up the Corner Pizza Truck. The routes rotate weekly around the South Boulder and Boulder Creek Path.

Tuesdays

RUNBoulder Boxcar Coffee Run — Boxcar Coffee Roasters, 1825 Pearl St.

Join this early morning run — 6:30 a.m. every Tuesday — for an all-paces 5K route down Pearl Street. Go for the run, stay for the coffee and pastries. Follow their Strava page for all updates.

Wednesdays

Runners Roost — 629 South Broadway, Suite E

At the Runner’s Roost in South Boulder (there are also locations in Louisville, Golden, and more), every Wednesday you can pick between a trail run starting at 5:15 p.m. or a road run that starts at 6:00 p.m. The first crew leaving at 5:15 is a casual-paced trail run, with the 5:30 departure being a quicker pace, and the 6 p.m. road run being a 5K distance through the neighborhood. For weekly updates and to see route information, check their Facebook Group.

In Motion Running — 1880 30th St

Another Wednesday run leaves at 6 p.m. from In Motion Running, a run specialty store and PT clinic led by Mark Plaatjes. The route typically heads out along the Goose Creek and Boulder Creek paths, with 5K, 10K, and walk/run options. This is a smaller crew compared to the other groups. After the run, stay to chat but also for free pizza and drinks from Living the Dream Brewing Company.

Thursdays

Fleet Feet2775 Pearl St.

On east Pearl St. near 28th Street, you’ll find a staple running store in Boulder with Fleet Feet. Join this local running club every Thursday night at 6 p.m. for about a 5K length with varying paces. Often, Fleet Feet offers shoe demos you can test on the run, so if you need a new pair of running shoes, definitely give this run club a try. Past demos have included Topo Designs shoes, Hokas, and Salomon. Check their Instagram for weekly updates.

Boulder Collective ClubRayback, 2775 Valmont Rd

A newbie to the local run club scene is the weekly running group with Boulder Collective Club that leaves from Rayback every Thursday starting at 6 p.m. The route is about 5 kilometers long and open to whatever pace you need. The group started this August and has pretty good turnouts, plus they offer demos and costume nights, board game nights, and more.

Women’s-Only runs

Cassiopeia3401 Bluff St, Suite 125A

Every Wednesday morning, Cassiopeia hosts a 4thegirls Run Club open to all paces. Cassiopeia, a cafe and cycling retail store aimed at Boulder’s community of women cyclists, was founded by Diana Freeman and opened in 2024. They also offer many weekly rides and other gatherings. Check their website or Strava group page for updated information.

Trail Sisters — various locations

Another fantastic women’s running club is the local Trail Sisters group, which offers weekly morning runs, as well as evening and weekend runs. Trail Sisters began in Boulder in 2016 and has since expanded into a global organization. Use their app to stay up-to-date on weekly events and to RSVP.
