Perseids Meteor Shower Watch Party

The annual Perseids meteor shower is one of the most exciting events of the year! With activity of up to 100 meteors per hour you’ll probably catch a few in the evening with a little patience \(and luck!\). Join us for a watch party hosted by Majestic View Nature Center in conjunction with the Standley Lake Public Library and Standley Lake Stargazing, we’ll have crafts, snacks, and of course several telescopes set up to view some summertime deep-sky objects in between meteors. Feel free to bring a chair or a blanket! Outdoor talk begins at 7:30, explaining what causes the Perseid meteor shower, how best to see meteors, and star party etiquette to help you and others get the most out of the show. Observing begins just after sunset, with telescopes available for everyone to look through.
