Rivers & Streams — Ars Nova Singers with guitarist Nicolò Spera

Ars Nova Singers opens its Season 41 with *Rivers & Streams*, a concert pairing two major works for choir and classical guitar. The program features guest guitarist Nicolò Spera. Hear Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s *Romancero Gitano* (1951), written in Los Angeles and inspired by Federico García Lorca’s poetry after the composer was forced to leave Italy. The concert also includes Corrado Margutti’s *Rivers* (2020), commissioned by Spera as a contemporary reflection on immigration. *Rivers* is structured as a Prologue plus seven movements and begins by quoting the earlier work, creating a musical bridge across 69 years. It takes place Friday, October 9 at 7:30 pm. The venue is Mountain View United Methodist Church (355 Ponca Place) in Boulder, Colorado. This is ideal for classical music fans, choral enthusiasts, and anyone interested in music shaped by stories of displacement and migration. Students and attendees 18 and under get in free, with tickets available at arsnovasingers.org.
