Writing Through Art – Writing Workshop

What happens when a work of art becomes the starting point for a story, poem, or personal reflection?

Fireside Ink Writers Workshop is thrilled to partner with Off the Page at the Dairy Arts Center for an immersive writing workshop inspired by visual art. Surrounded by the exhibition in the McMahon Gallery, participants will explore how artworks can spark stories, memories, questions, and unexpected creative discoveries.

Through guided writing prompts, close observation, and discussion, you’ll experiment with new ways of responding to what you see on the gallery walls. We’ll look at examples of writers who have drawn inspiration from visual art and discover how careful looking can open up fresh ideas, vivid language, and imaginative possibilities.

Whether you’re a seasoned writer or simply curious about creative expression, this workshop offers a welcoming space to connect art and language in new ways. You’ll leave with new writing, practical creative techniques, and a fresh perspective on how visual art can become a powerful catalyst for storytelling.

No prior writing experience is necessary. Writers of all genres and experience levels are welcome.
