Leslie Scalapino Lecture: Tsering Wangmo Dhompa

Poet and scholar Tsering Wangmo Dhompa delivers the 2026 Leslie Scalapino Lecture in Innovative Poetics at Naropa University. Her talk, "Writing in Code: A Poetics of Liberation and Bardo," considers how contemporary Tibetan writers in exile write toward two kinds of liberation: freedom from the suffering of samsara and freedom from an oppressor. A reading from her work and audience Q&A follow. Dhompa is the author of The Politics of Sorrow (Columbia University Press) and several poetry collections. Free and open to the public.
