About This Event

The Tapestry Band is a collective of Boulder-based musicians and songwriters coming together in homage to the legendary album by Carole King. This Grammy Award-winning work, Tapestry, is revered as one of the greatest albums of all time and has solidified the artist as an icon in the singer-songwriter genre. Playing the record from top to bottom, this night will be filled with hit songs, masterful piano playing and a celebration of incredible music. This endeavor was dreamed up by Colorado bassist and singer Madeleine Leigh. Upon moving to Fourmile Canyon in 2024, Madeleine quickly integrated into a renowned and vibrant music scene in the mountains outside of Boulder. This band is comprised of friends and neighbors brought together by venues like The Salina Schoolhouse, The Gold Hill Inn and The Gold Hill Store and Pub. Originally from Ithaca, NY, Madeleine is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. She spent the majority of the last decade touring with her Austin-based bands, Ley Line and Steel Betty and debuted her first solo album, as it is, in 2024. Taking the role of Carole King, lead singer, Bobby Coe is a singer-songwriter from Boston. In her solo work, she combines her jazzy, neo-soul background with classic acoustic folk to write unique and ethereal melodies. She is a member of The Galentines, winners of Colorado Sound’s “On the Rise” music award of 2025. Another Boulder Canyon resident and guitarist, Christopher Robert Clauss is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He fronts Phoebe Nix and is a member of Canyon Collective and other Front Range groups. Drummer, Essie Horne, was born and raised in Crested Butte, Colorado and is a passionate young musician. She now plays drums in Boulder’s all-girl rock group, The Galentines and studies Evolutionary Biology and Ecology at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Perhaps the most essential member of the band, Ryan Benthall is a jazz pianist who has performed and toured with many bands, including the Jackson Stokes Band, opening for the 2019-2020 Allman Betts Band world tour, the Charlie Berry Project, The Schwag, Daft Phish and Brother Francis & the Soultones along with many other groups and ensembles. Ryan currently performs with Phoebe Nix, based out of Boulder and leads his own solo group, The Ryan Benthall Trio. Trace Hybertson is a Boulder-based fiddler with roots in classical, folk and world music. He plays in multiple groups, including Trace & Baerd, blending improvisation and tradition into music that feels both new and familiar. Accompanying on flute and tenor saxophone is Jason Brandt, a Boulder-based musician and writer. He fronts his own band, Jason Brandt and The Build-Out, on vocals, guitar and saxophone and has performed both as a soloist and sideman in rock, funk, jam and jazz bands across Texas, Missouri, Georgia and Colorado.
