A blend of classic country, old school honky tonk and outlaw country augmented by deep grooves, fiery musical improvisation and a high energy stage show: that’s Benny & Taylor’s Honkytonk Express. Led by Grammy award-winning trumpet player/singer Benny Bloom (Lettuce) and internationally touring guitarist/singer/songwriter Taylor Scott, this group of some of Denver’s most respected musicians doesn’t disappoint. What started as a side project among a group of individually accomplished funk/soul, jazz, blues and country musicians quickly became a force all its own in the Denver music scene. In January 2024, the band released their self-titled debut album; a blend of original songs penned by Bloom and Scott along with choice covers of honky tonk heroes like Hank Williams, Johnny Paycheck and Jerry Reed. Delivering a party-inducing stage show combined with ripping musical improv has made the Honkytonk Express one of Colorado’s most in-demand country acts.
