Mile High Havana puts master percussionist Alejandro Castaño at the center of the stage for the first time, leading an all-star ensemble in a celebration of the grooves of his Afro-Cuban roots. After many appearances on our stages, supporting other Cultural Caravan headliners with his extraordinary sensitivity and energy, Colorado's most respected jazz drummer finally steps into the spotlight. Drummers rarely get this opportunity to be the bandleader and curator, but Alejandro’s technical virtuosity and generous spirit make him an obvious choice for a Cultural Caravan artist residency.
