About This Event
Behind the Baton Live: The American West, From Copland to Kirkland is a special presentation from CPR Classical and the Denver Art Museum on June 16 at the Sturm Grand Pavilion, exploring the music and art that celebrate and challenge the identity of the American West. Conductor and pianist Scott O’Neil, JR Henneman, Curator of Western American Art, and Becca Goodrum, Assistant Curator of The Kirkland, guide this live, multimedia experience blending performance, storytelling and visual art. In celebration of Colorado’s 150th anniversary and America’s 250th, the evening journeys across time and landscape—highlighting stories of resilience, artistry and identity, while inviting audiences to ponder the myth, memory and meaning of the West. See it live at a matinee performance at 3 p.m. or an evening performance at 6:30 p.m., both on June 16. Virtual streaming options will be available for both performances for those who can't attend in person.
