About This Event
Found Sanctuaries Wednesday, February 25, 7:30 p.m., Griffin Concert Hall The University Chorus, led by Carly Neumann, joins forces with the Concert Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Rachel Waddell, for an evening of sonic soul searching and discovery. The program explores how music becomes prayer in spaces both sacred and surprising. From the radiant light of Elaine Hagenberg’s Illuminare, to the hushed reverence of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Ave Verum Corpus (conducted by orchestra graduate teaching assistant, Sam Cooper) to the pulsing metropolis of Ola Gjeilo’s The City from Sunrise Mass, each work reveals a different kind of sanctuary. Together, these pieces remind us that prayer is not confined to walls of stone; it rises wherever people gather to seek meaning, from cathedrals to city streets. CONCERT PROGRAM GUIDES/PLAYBILLS are available in a digital format only and may be viewed by scanning the QR code at the venue entrance or can be viewed in advance through a link on the ticketing site.
